When Ashley contacted me about doing some pictures to celebrate thirty years of life, I was so incredibly humbled. Ashley is a wonderful photographer in my town and I've been following her work for several years. Having another photographer trust me to capture them was such a huge and humbling thing. Ashley wanted to commemorate how far she had come in thirty years while showcasing some of her favorite things. She's an avid reader, a huge fan of knitting, and an advocate for fitness and health. Oh, and we can't forget coffee!
I don't know why, but I never thought about using the local library for a shoot and I loved how these came out. I just might go back and shoot some more---despite the chagrined looks from the library staff!
Did I mention that Ashley loves to knit? Did I also mention that this blanket was knit by her grandmother? Isn't that the coolest?
Ashley designed her tattoos so that one side of her body would be covered, while the other was not. I thought the contrast of the two was such an interesting concept. And tattoos captured in black and white makes my heart flutter a little bit, y'all---I love it.
And last, but not least, yoga and mountains.
It was such a delight and honor to work with Ashley and I absolutely loved getting to celebrate her life in this way. Go check out her work while you're here. It's pretty great.
You are worthy. You are loved. You are lionhearted.
Never forget it.
Just trying my best to hold onto feelings in the heart of Tennessee.
